On May 27, 2026, CRDN hosted its an information webinar on the RAREvolution Scholarship, bringing together prospective applicants, families, caregivers, and community members from across Canada to learn more about this new national scholarship program.
The webinar provided an overview of the scholarship, including eligibility requirements, the application process, key dates, and what applicants can expect. It also created space for attendees to ask questions and learn more about the purpose of the program: supporting young people living with diagnosed or suspected rare diseases as they pursue post-secondary education in Canada.
Made possible through the generous support of Alexion Canada, the RAREvolution Scholarship Program supports young people aged 17 to 29 who are living with a diagnosed or suspected rare disease and are pursuing post-secondary education in Fall 2026. It offers awards of up to $5,000 CAD for full-time students and up to $2,500 CAD for part-time students. A minimum of 15 scholarships will be awarded in 2026.
Beyond financial support, the program is designed to foster connection, community, and opportunity. Scholarship recipients will have the option to participate in peer connection opportunities, mentorship, networking opportunities, and other activities that help build a stronger community and foster personal and professional growth.
During the webinar, CRDN emphasized that the RAREvolution Scholarship is not a traditional merit-based scholarship. Applications will be reviewed holistically, recognizing lived experience, resilience, potential, educational goals, and the different pathways young people may take while navigating rare disease.
