A national scholarship supporting youth living with rare diseases to pursue post-secondary education in Canada

For many youth living with a rare disease, pursuing post-secondary education comes with additional challenges—health-related barriers, financial strain, and systems that weren’t designed with them in mind. The RAREvolution Scholarship was created to help change that.
Up to $5,000 to help students pursue their academic and career goals while recognizing the resilience and leadership they bring.

You are eligible if you:
Are living with a rare disease, with either a confirmed diagnosis or a condition suspected by a healthcare professional*
*Important: You do not need proof of diagnosis when applying. If selected, you will be required to provide documentation.
Scholarships are awarded up to $5,000 CAD, based on enrolment status:
Up to $2,500 for part‑time students

Rare diseases are typically chronic conditions that can be serious, complex, and sometimes life-threatening.
In Canada, the European definition is commonly used, which states that a disease is considered rare if it affects fewer than 1 in 2,000 people.
There are thousands of rare diseases, and many people are still navigating a diagnosis. If you are living with a diagnosed or suspected rare disease, you are eligible to apply.
No. You are eligible to apply if you are living with a diagnosed or suspected, but undiagnosed rare disease. Proof of diagnosis is not required at the time of application but will be requested if you are selected.
Yes. You can apply if you have applied to a Canadian post-secondary program. You may upload a conditional offer and proof of enrolment will be required if you are selected.
No. Your reference should be someone who can speak to your character, experiences, or goals (e.g., teacher, mentor, employer, or community leader).
Yes. You are still eligible to apply even if you have received other scholarships.
