In 2006, Brad’s life took a significant turn when he was diagnosed with Pompe disease, a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness and difficulty breathing. Since then, he has dedicated his time and energy to advocating for the rare disease community. As the Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Pompe, Brad represents the Canadian Pompe community and the global Pompe and rare disease communities. He also serves on the boards of the International Pompe Association and the NZ Pompe Network, further underscoring his dedication.
 
Brad co-founded Zeal Access, a Canadian company that collaborates with partners to develop continuing education courses for healthcare professionals. He also co-founded CACHEducation, a nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for advocates like himself.
