DESCRIPTION:This session will provide a brief overview of the medicine wheel\, why it is important\, and how it supports emotional\, spiritual\, mental\, and physical health and healing. Led by Dr. Terri-Lynn Fox [Aai’piihkwikomotaakii]\, Indigenous Scholar on Indian Residential Schools and Truth and Reconciliation\, this 75-minute session includes a presentation and will be followed by a discussion period where attendees can submit questions and comments on the topic. SUMMARY:National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. \nThe day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools\, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. \nThis federal statutory holiday was created through legislative amendments made by Parliament.
